Become a CBD Member and Save $$$

Ok, so maybe everyone knows about this already and I'm like the last one to find out, but I thought I should mention it anyway.

I'm over at Christianbook.com making a list of books I'd like to buy for our homeschool and I read that if you join as a member for only $5 a year, you will automatically get the LOWEST price available on all items you order no matter how you order them---web, phone, or mail. Isn't that cool?

To be sure there was actually a "lower" price than what is advertised on their website, I called and spoke with a Customer Representative. I gave them a few different stock numbers of items I want to order, and sure enough, each item was between 50 cents to $1 cheaper--with a membership . So, for only $5, I figured I'd make it back in savings with my first order. So, I suppose the real savings would come with additional orders, right?

Well, I like I said, I just wanted to share this information here just in case I'm not the only one who didn't know about it LOL. Oh, I do not gain any financial benefit by sharing this either, so please don't think I'm mentioning it just to make money, because I'm not. :)

Bibleopoly?

Have you ever heard of the game Bibleopoly before? I was looking at it today and thinking it would be a terrific game to play with my children!

We only have Monopoly Junior and the kids have enjoyed playing it, but Bibleopoly sounds so much better! In the description, I like how it says: win by helping your fellow players! There are not too many games out there that are like this!

If you have this game, please leave me a comment with any good or bad experiences you've had with it. Thanks so much!

The Duggar's Welcome Baby #17!!!

Yes it is true--the Duggar family just welcomed baby #17 into their family. Isn't that wonderful? You can read more about it here.

I'm from a large family (9 children) and I've always wanted a large family (I have 6 so far), but I don't know that I could imagine having 17 children. I wonder if Michelle Duggar ever gets tired? I mean really, really tired. She must, don't ya think? How could she not?

It is amazing to think that she and I are the same age, but I only have 6 children. She must be the closest thing to a "supermom" that I can imagine. Oh, all of their children's names begin with a "J"...isn't that neat?

I also think it is so wonderful that they live debt-free. THAT is truly amazing, especially in today's day and age. That would be an AWESOME blessing to be able to live debt-free!

5 Tips to Make Your Life More Fun by Christine Louise Hohlbaum

Are you working too hard? Not spending enough time with friends or family? You probably could use more fun in your life! Here are five fun games to invite more laughter into your day:

1.) The Hat Game

What you need: hat, three or more players

Age group: 2 and above

How you play: Each person takes turns wearing the hat. Whoever wears the hat has to sing a line of his favorite song. See how fast you can play the game!

2.) The Chocolate Game

What you need: timer, goggles or glasses, hat, 2 oven mitts, winter scarf, bar of chocolate, knife, fork, plate, four or more players

Age group: 6 and above

How you play: Each player takes a turn putting all the items on (including the oven mitts!), then trying to cut the bar of chocolate with the knife and fork. Allot about 30 seconds for this on the timer. When the timer rings, it is time to take everything off and hand it to the next person to try.

3.) The Dictionary Game

What you need: dictionary, pens, paper, four or more players

Age group: 6 and above

How you play: Each player takes a turn choosing one word that no one knows. All the other players write down what they think the meaning is or a funny alternative and use it in a sentence. The dictionary master reads everyone’s definitions, and then it comes to a vote. Whoever gets the most votes wins.

4.) Hide the Bunny

What you need: stuffed animal (we use a pink bunny), three or more players

Age group: 18 months and above

How you play: One player hides the bunny somewhere in the room while everyone else closes their eyes. The other players have to search for it. Whoever finds the bunny first gets to hide it next!

5.) Sardines

What you need: at least five players

Age group: 6 and above

How you play: This game is a hide-n-seek spin-off, but everyone wins. Darken the room. One person hides and the others seek. As each person finds the hidden person, he or she stays with the hidden person until the last person finds the entire group. The object is to stay as quiet as possible until the last person joins everyone else.

Laughter truly is the best medicine!

ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!

I strongly encourage EVERY one to watch this...you won't be sorry.

"The below is the hottest thing on the internet and on Fox News today. Lizzie Palmer who put this YouTube program together is 15 years old. There have been over 3,000,000 hits as of this morning. In case you missed it, here it is. ENJOY!"

I think THIS IS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say "THANK YOU LIZZIE!" for making such a beautiful tribute to those who have sacrificed and who are currently sacrificing their lives for ALL of us. I have watched this about 7 times already today, showed it to my children and husband, and emailed it to several people and a few of my email groups. I still have tear-filled eyes as I think of this video and the profound impact it has left on me.

My family and I thank ALL of the American military who continue to give so much for us and our freedom. In our eyes, you will NOT be forgotten and we will forever be in debt to you. You continue to be in our prayers.

Below is a collection of images I've collected over the past few years and I think this is the perfect time to display them. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. :)

Wow, It Worked!

Just about a week or so ago, I posted about a New Opportunity I Am Trying and I wanted to update you on it.

Well, so far so good! :) Just 3 days ago I received payment for my first writing assignment! I was so excited LOL. I think that is a great start, don't you?

Well, anyway, that is all I have to say about it for now. I'll be certain to post any additional updates here as they come up.

New Opportunity I’m Trying

While visiting other blogs last night, I came across Bloggerwave and decided to see what it was about. It said that as a blogger, I'd have the opportunity to get paid as I blogged. I decided to give this a try and registered, then submitted my blog for approval and this morning I received an email saying my blog was approved. I was surprised as to how quickly that happened! Now that I'm approved, it says I can participate in opportunities by giving feedback to advertisers with respect to their websites, products, services and companies. I hope this will be beneficial! :)

Works For Me Wednesday: DIY Bird Bath Dripper

This is my first time participating in Works For Me Wednesday. I also hope I’m doing this right!

My only hobby is feeding the outdoor birds and I learned that birds are attracted to the sound of running or dripping water, so I wanted some sort of a dripper for my bird bath in hopes of attracting more birds to my yard. Well, I was surprised at the cost of the drippers (kind of expensive for us) so I had to find an alternative. I had read about this idea in a few different bird magazines and books. It is has worked pretty well for me...as long as I do not tighten the cap too tight.

It is a quart-size plastic jug/bottle that I have hanging over my bird bath dish. (Actually, you know those little hooks that you can buy to hang a hanging plant or feeder from a wooden deck rail? That is the hook I'm using since we don't have a deck...I just planted it into the ground next to the bird bath so the jug hangs OVER the bird bath.) I just used a thumbtack and poked a hole into a bottom corner of the jug, fill it with water and voila! Instant dripper. The flow of the water will depend on how snug you tighten the cap.

I forgot to add if you use a dripper or something to make the water in your bird bath move instead of remaining still and stagnant, mosquitoes won't lay their larva in it...they prefer still, stagnant, non-moving water on which to lay their eggs on.

Well, Here I Go!

This is my first post on my very first blog! Wow, how exciting LOL.

Almost everyone I know has a blog, but I never took the plunge until today.

I was (and somewhat still am) convinced that I really don’t have anything super exciting or extraordinary to write about that would interest anyone, but I figured I would go ahead and try anyway. So, please be kind and bear with me as I attempt this new venture!

A little about my family & I…I am a Christian wife of 20 1/2 years and homeschooling/work-at-home-mom (wahm) to 6 blessings so far (5 boys & 1 girl, not in that order) ages 16, 12, 11, 9, almost 6, 1 year old, and 4 babies in heaven. We also have 9 indoor cats & 4 dogs. And just in case you are wondering…No, we do not have a big house.

In my opinion, being a wife and mother is absolutely the best thing ever!!! I am very grateful to the Lord for my husband and our children. I come from a family of 9 children and I’ve ALWAYS wanted to have a large family.

If it is the Lord’s will, I’d still LOVE to have more children, particularly through adoption. I’ve always had a desire to adopt and would seriously do so if ever given the opportunity, but so far the Lord has not made that possible, so it may not be His will.

Since we have a larger family, my husband & I started an eBay store a few years ago to help supplement his income. I’m also a representative for the following companies: Greeting Cakes, Jerky Direct Meat Snacks & Supplements, Cello In A Box Bags & Gift Wrap products, Kat’s Coffees, & Stuff A Friend Animal/Doll Kits. I also signed up with Melaleuca to use their non-toxic products. I’ve never worked it as a business, but since I love their products, I’ll stay with it for personal use at the very least. Everything is on my website www.allhisblessings.com in case you want to see something.

Lastly, I own a wahm site which I purchased this past fall and I’ve really had a terrific, wonderful time developing it so far. I think it will always be a work in progress, but if you’d like to see it, it is www.TheWAHMShack.com

Well, I think this was a good start. If you’ve read this until the very end, I thank you and hope you’ll visit again.
